SUMMARY:Feb 25 - Monthly Speaker Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Our speakers are Brian Trascher of the United Cajun Navy and Adrie De Waal–newly minted US Citizen and friend of Eric Skrmetta. \n \nThe Cajun Navy are informal ad hoc volunteer groups comprising private boat owners who assist in search and rescue efforts in the United States as well as offer disaster relief assistance. These groups were formed in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and reactivated in the aftermaths of the 2016 Louisiana floods.  \nAdrie De Waal originally hailed from South Africa but has been in her new country for more than a decade chasing her dream of becoming a US Citizen.  She registered to vote Republican and bought a gun the same day.  She is our kind of gal.  She will give us a glimpse into the immigration process. \nPlease join us at our new location\, Cafe 15–Da Wabbit\, 615 Kepler Street in Gretna at our new meeting time of 7-9 pm.

SUMMARY:Jan 15 - Monthly Meeting - Guest Speaker John Scurich\, Historian
DESCRIPTION:John Scurich is the coordinator and chair of the New Orleans Bicentennial Commemoration of Lafayette’s visit to New Orleans. The events will take place April 9-13 in New Orleans. \nIn 1824\, the Marquis de Lafayette (the last surviving major general of the American Revolution) made a grand tour of 24 states and stopped in New Orleans.  The 2025 Bicentennial Celebration marks this historic event. \nLafayette served under George Washington and then returned to France where he with Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen (a precursor to the Declaration of Independence).  He was invited by President James Monroe in 1824 to tour the United States to instill the “Spirit of 1776” in the hearts of the citizens again.  (Sound familiar?) \nJohn will detail all of the celebrations\, and we will have fun instilling a Spirit of 1776 within ourselves as we anticipate the Inauguration of President Trump on January 20. \nDigital Brochure and Purchase Tickets \nThe cost of the event is $40.  It is an appetizer night. \nOur new appetizer menu has something for everyone whether vegan\, no seafood\, keto\, or gluten-free. \nSpinach Madeline\, Fig & Blue Cheese Flatbread\, Chicken Tenders\, Seafood-Stuffed Mushrooms\, Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp. \nOr No Appetizer Option:  Mixed Green/Caesar Chicken Breast Salad

It’s a fight to maintain the entrepreneurial freedom that is essential to the trucking industry and the broader independent contractor community. By challenging the Department of Labor’s rule\, Frisard’s is standing up not just for its own business and its contractors but also for the principle of maintaining freedom\, opportunity\, and the American dream. \nThe Federal Government Shouldn’t Make it Harder to Work for Yourself \n \nJerry Smith is running for the 24th JDC (Scott Schlegel’s prior set). He will give us his vision for this judgeship. \nNo need for menu selections this evening\, we will be serving hors d’oeuvres
